Single Pringles: Why Am I Still Single!

Why hello there. It’s been away for some time now and am sure you all have notice that I have not been able to upload as much as I normally would. My apologies really. I’m even tired of making apologies but thing is I’ve been mad busy with life, school, studies, family avoiding getting arrested and/or beat up and organizing some New trends i want to add to this blog titled the “Letters To My Ex” series. It promises to be nice and interesting... Just stay tune
So yeah, sooner than later or maybe later when I get it all wrapped up, you will read it here first). Today however, I want to address a different issue on my weekend Trillz series
address: different issue
LOOOOOOOOOOOL..I’m really so funny.
No?
Not even a bit?
:(
If you’ve been reading my stuff here of recent, you will note I’ve been writing quite a lot on relationships. I don’t even know why o, it’s not like I’m like @8plus9 or @thetoolsman that are experienced in these matters. It however might be because I’ve been reading their stuff a whole lot and they are influencing my thought process. Shut up! I say again. hehehehe. But I will focusing more to the guys today!
Anyway today, I got wondering and I don’t do that often but when I do, I really do. So I sat there and asked my self a question, I said “Self!” Self was like “yeah?” I’m like “Self, why do we have so much single around ?” and self was like “you should ask yourself” and i looked at self like O_o , “I’m asking you though, why you asking me to ask myself?”, Self got all defensive and raised his voice by itself and was like “Why are you asking you? I said you should ask yourself!”
So that discussion berthed this topic: Ask YOURSELF, why are you single?
Now I’m going to attempt to answer this question from different viewpoints, I may or may not be wrong and you might find that you belong to one or more of the categories. I don’t know.
- You’re Ugly.

See yeah, who makes the yardstick for what is ugly and what isn’t ugly?Who set the standards for beauty? Isn’t beauty in the eyes of the beholder? Aren’t Segoon Arinze, Bola Tinorbu and Razerk Awkoya married. The people that married them, do they not know beauty when they see it? Look if your excuse for being single is because you’re ugly, then you need to wake up from that thought, remove the tree trunk in your eye and find the woman that loves you for what..sorry, who you are. Facial constitution is not a barrier to love. That area boy that doesn’t even brush daily and looks like a rumpled paper from a 2B note still has one babe that calls him ‘onny’ on the regs. My friend, gather up your balls and walk up to that lady. Let your inner beauty speak for you! Let your charm and charisma sweep her off her feet! Let the baritone of your voice cause a dam to burst open in the region between her thighs! Let…ok, I’m getting carried away. You get my drift.

1- You don’t have money.

So you’re the type of nigga that sets off bank alarms when you pass by becuase even the building can smell your broke ass from miles away. I mean, you’re so broke you don’t even get credit alerts simply because there’s no money to debit you from. But you love some babe, however you’ve been told that relationships are expensive and you need some finance to maintain the fuel of love. Let me tell you brethren; Money should not stop you from commiting to a woman. Look, do you think the Lord cannot bless you with a woman that is willing to ignore the absence of money? Oh? OH? I can hear the murmurings. Look my nigga, I’d have said ignore the things you see in Nollywood movies but I remembered your ass can’t even afford a TV. so yeah, here’s what you do: Find yourself a rich babe. HOW? I don’t know abeg.

2-You’re a Player.

Most guys today are single simply because they already have what they want. Do you know the pleasure that comes with having access to watch DSTV when you want without paying subscription? No aunty, tell me why that guy will commit to you when he’s already finished work? So yeah, guys have noticed that they can play trial matches for different clubs before deciding which club they’ll permanently join. So rather than put their all into impressing at the trials, they put up an average performances. These guys eventually get to the point where they realize that there’s more to life than playing but this realization might take forever. Be there forming player up and down o, continue. Until your mates all settle down and the only settling you’re doing is on your couch, eating regrets out of a paper bag while tears stream down your face. No continue…

3-You’re Handsome.
Unlike the ugly ones, this group actually believe that they’re God’s gift to women. They feel like they were sculpted from the fabric of beauty itself. These guys walk abi float and act like they dont even shit. if they shit sef, their shit don’t stink. Their shit is probably what mars bars are made from. Enough of this shit. So yeah, they wait for the perfect woman that complements their looks but the snag is that they lack so much in personality, sense, manners and the basic things that make up a normal human being. Can you tell i’m pissed at their shit? Look, its not like I’m not fine. I mean, on a scale of 0 – Idrils Elba, I’m probably a Taye Diggs (yeah he does look like me) but yeah…You better stop deceiving yourself up and down, you think all the “OMG! You’re so fine” you get on IG make you some sort of superstar. My nigga, humble yourself and let the Lord exhalt you…or not. By the way, opposites attract, I’m just saying.

4- Your Member is too big.

You’re actually a humanitarian because you’re considering the damage you will wreck if you attempt to put your baton inside her. This is why you’re single. I mean, people don’t appreciate what you’re doing because they don’t understand  but it’s ok my nigga. Your type is rare. Keep doing you. (Yes I mean masturbating). More grease to your…palms?

5- You’re Ugly and Broke .

Brother, relationship is not for everyone 1 cor 7:8. Oops did I just say that? ;(

6-You’re The Reserve One

Well, I’m sure I haven’t exhausted all the reasons. There are likely more reasons why you’re single. Maybe because you’re waiting for a prticular babe to break up, maybe you don’t believe in dating before marriage (ehm, yes ke) or maybe you’ve just decided that you want to be an eunuch or something. If you’re single, please share your reasons and feel free to add more using the comments box.

The “un-singles” are welcome too.

Have a lovely weekend!

My Top 20 Beauty Tips And Tricks!

Have you ever wonder why you aint able to maintain that glow on your skin. I will be sharing with us some of the tips and tricks to apply to help boost and give that perfect look and finish on your body.

  1. Get the most of your mascara (especially ones that are a few weeks old) by running the wand under warm running water before dippping it into the tube. The warmth seperates the product and prevents clumping. This trick keeps my mascara going a few extra weeks.
  2. Create the perfect lipstick application by using a lip brush and cleaning up any strays with a cotton bud.
  3. Apply your eyeshadow before foundation to prevent any fall out from ruining your makeup
  4. Make your own lipscrub with a combination of brown sugar and some drops of olive oil
  5. Blushes can serve as eyeshadows, work them double duty
  6. Moisturize your lips with balm for about 5 mins and then dab your lips on the back of your palm. This takes off enough of the product to prevent your lipstick from slipping and sliding.
  7. For a flawless finish, apply your foundation in a star-like pattern going from the centre of your nose to both sides and then up to your forehead and down to your chin. This movement follows the pattern in which your facial hairs grow.
  8. Apply concealer to problem spots with your ring finger. It applies just enough pressure to blend the product in whilst properly covering the spot
  9. If you’ve applied too much blusher, apply some transclucent powder to tone it down
  10. Mix your foundation with a bit of your moisturizer to make your own tinted moisturizer. This works on days when you are going for a lighter makeup look
  11. Use a mixture of lemon juice and water as a toner after you cleanse. This is great for the skin because it’s natural and helps to fade dark spots after a period of time.
  12. Store your eye cream in the door of your fridge. The temperature there is perfect for the product making it soothe your eye area better.
  13. Don’t shake nail polish bottles rigorously, this causes air bubbles on the surface of your nails when you use it. Instead roll the bottle in between your palms and the heat will loosen the product up
  14. For natural looking brows fill in your brows light handedly with a pencil. To darken, follow with a matte brown eyeshadow with an angled brow brush. This helps to soften the harsh lines of the pencil.
  15. Moisturise your hair at least three times a week with a water-based moisturiser like ORS Carrot Oil. Follow this with an oil such as Grapeseed or Extra Virgin Olive Oil to seal in the moisture. If you dont seal with an oil, your hair will lose the moisture therefore becoming dry and prone to breakage.
  16. Use scotch tape to guide you when creating a winged liner. Position the tape in the direction you want your liner to go and follow it
  17. Oil is a great eye makeup remover. Instead of spending money on store bought ones, use cotton wool and olive oil, baby oil or even good old vaseline
  18. Apply your moisturiser in patting motions or in an upward direction. Rubbing downwards may cause your skin to start sagging
  19. Coffee is great as a body scrub. Mix it with some olive oil and honey and you’ll be in exfoliation heaven. The caffeine is also rumoured to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  20. Wear sunscreen everyday! This will help protect your skin from excessive sun damage.

Man To Die By Stoning For Impregnating Younger Sister!

Wonder shall never end, i found this so irritating while reading through today and I felt you should share in the news. A 30 year old man today name withheld is been sentenced to death by stoning according the upper sharia court for impregnating his younger sister.

According to the information we heard, the said suspect is married with three wives while he forcefully had sexual relation with his younger sister.  When ask why he did that, he lay claims to the work of the devil and pleaded guilty, but disagreed that he forced her to have sexual intercourse, instead maintained that she accepted to have sex with him.

The young lady age 16 was brought to the suspect house by their father to help take her to school, but instead forced her into sexual intercourse which resulted into her being pregnant.

The shariah court judge, Musa Barde sentenced him to death by stoning.

Will stoning the accuse suspect help restore the life of a young adolescent. What better judgment do you think should be given to him? I endear parent to be more watchful of the kind of relation they send their children to live it. In my own opinion  i find it very  ridiculous and irresponsible of a parent to send their children to families to rise all in the name of poverty.

Marriage: To be Endured or Enjoyed, Whats Your Take?

It is a  noticeable trend that most singles are gradually slipping out of that idea of having a perfect relationship or a long lasting relationship or marriage or simply having a happy marriage.

They already have a preconception that all guys or ladies cheat and have already given their boyfriends, girlfriends or spouses that blank cheque of cheating and not to disappoint them, he or she makes full withdrawal.

Our values are changing, and our expectations from what God designed to be a bliss are being degraded.

Young people are opting for celibacy. They'll rather stay single that end up in that kinda marriage they find in the society. Happy today, punching bags the next. Couples are often changing to clients seeking divorce. This isn't God's blueprint.

I know people who are married and I 'believe' they are happy. They are the ones who don't tell you all men/women are cheats. They tell you marriages work. I'm not leaving out the fact that some people hide all their issues so well. There is just how far you can go hiding some things. If there is no love it will surely manifest.

All these ideas we already have are a result of our personal experiences. The marriages we have seen around us. It could even be our parents or what they have told us and made us believe about the concept of marriage.

What's your motive for getting married?

The question of purpose/motive is one question we fail to answer with respect to the things we do in life even asides marriage. When the purpose or use of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.

People go into marriages for the very wrong reasons or without having a good idea of why they are there.

I've heard people say they are old enough. If only age was enough to make you have a happy home. Although in our society, the pressure mounts (esp on ladies) as they approach their 30s.

Two people can't work together except they agree. But its sad that people go into marriages without an agreement on how they'll handle things. How they'll resolve issues. The leave the decision to 'when we get to the bridge, we'll cross it'

Sadly they both have personal bridge-crossing ideas and they are not willing to change. Knowing fully well that both parties were trained differently as they grew up.

Domestic violence, divorce, cheating are not part of God's plan for the marriage institution.
These days, couples easily go down that divorce road. Infact they have had it at the back of their mind before they even got into the marriage.

It might not be a bed of roses. Even if it is remember beyond the floral parts of the rose, there exists thorns which can prick if not well handled.

God wants you to enjoy your marriage!

Success Lesson To Learn From The Movie: 'The Pursuit Of Happyness'

I recently came across the quote from the movie, 'The Pursuit Of Happyness'. It has this amazing quote that I think its full of inspiration, wisdom and determination. It is about fighting for your dreams, never letting anything get in your way.

As a young women who is still currently working to find my place in this world, (finding my place I meant, we learning something new in this everyday, new things, new life, new happenings). Anyways, as I was saying, I felt a special connection to this quote and an overwhelming enthusiasm to learn more about the story, especially what motivated and inspired the owner of the story Chris Gardner. Though the first time it came out in 2006 I didn't have the opportunity to watch it, until late 2009 on chilly Friday night on Dstv.

I am not one of the type that enjoy watching a movie twice or repeatedly. But on Friday which happens to be a public holiday here in KKTC, i had but to watch some movie. What came to mind was the movie the Pursuit of Happyness, which i had served in one of my laptop drive.

You got a dream...You gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want something, go get it period (Chris Garnder)

The story was first released as Chris Gardner autobiography in May 2006 and became number one New York Times best seller. The book portrayals a man's quest to better life.

The book has been an inspiration to millions, shocking people with this once homeless man's  determination to become a millionaire. The book made a remarkable stand that the writer didn't even wait a year to make a movie out of it.

In the movie, Ace actor Will Smith plays Chris Gardner at the point in his life when his wife has just left him and he is now a single father, struggling in poverty. Unable to sell many of the bone density scanners which he has long invented putting his life saving into to make. He finds himself struggling to pay rent. However, at the end within one year he manages to become a stockbroker at a top firm and goes on to run his own multi-million dollar firm which has always been his dream.

The story to me speaks about perseverance, determination and hard work. It is a true life testament of a man's life to the idea that if you work hard enough and long enough, you can really achieve anything.

Irrespective of the changes he was faced with, here is a man who still kept on. I was so torched at the scene, where even at his lowest point of his life, when he was sleeping with his son on the restroom floor of a subway station, he maintained the illusion that he was just as much a viable candidate as the other intern who had homes and all the luxuries of modern day businessmen.

He proves that perception really is everything. Note to keep here to you reading this: is that we shouldn't be swayed by the false harsh realities of life.

Another point I want to note is that believing in the self. With this i mean, believing that what you set your mind to do that you will achieve. In the case of Chris Gardner, he never let anything stop him from his dreams, his one true passion. He knew how hard and special it was to find something he not loved doing, but that he understood. He pursued that goal with everything he had, every fiber of his being. Because what else is there in life if you are not pursuing our dreams?  What is the point of it all? Neither is it by sitting down with a down face and wallowing. Like I always say, We have one life, one shot, to do what we love and to make the most of our lives.

To my friends, subscribers and follower reading this, its not a coincidence that to slum on this peace today, it the inner voice telling you to find your path today, your focus. It is important that you keep your dreams alive and keep a clear eyes on the end goal. It is not about failures and missteps along the way, but how they help to make you stronger on your journey to the end.

Ladies: Issues That Could Prevent Singles From Getting Married!

In this part of the world many ladies might end up singles for life for numerous reasons. Major among these are:

1. Media exposure. - It is so disheartening how a lady will glue her eyes on a mobile phone from morning till night, only to raise it up to focus on TV to watch another celebrity entertainment channel. Tell, what else will dominate this lady’s mindset aside how to live a fake celebrity life being promoted on television channels?

2. Dislike For Cooking And Home Chores. - These days, many African ladies dislike cooking and home chores just because they have been totally brainwashed by movies showcasing men playing the role of women in a family, and due to excessive exposure to modern media that promotes gender-equality in a destructive manner,  aimed at destroying the unique African family setting that made our previous African marriages everlasting and envious to the western world. Now, with this attitude, how do you expect a African man to desire to marry when he knows he is only 'buying' more headache and trouble than helper for himself?

3. Excessive makeup. - This often turn most decent and serious-minded men off.  Most men see ladies who wear excessive makeup as prostitutes or wayward. A slight makeup is okay; try always to look simple and natural, it will attract better men, decent and serious-minded, except you are still living in your high school life and not thinking towards marriage.

4. Stop Giving Your Number Out To Every Joystick & Harry - No man would want to propose marriage to a lady whose phone is always talking and laughing with unserious calls. You may not be a playgirl, but he would judge you as one, and will likely flee at the slightest chance or disagreement.

5. You Don’t Bring Any Value Into The Life Of The Men You Date - because your best friend married without contributing anything to the man that finally married her, doesn’t mean it will work for you that way. Think, work towards equipping yourself so that you can be of value and also add value to his life to convince him that you are worth committing to. Adding value to his life isn’t by giving him money, or material gifts, nope….good counsels, being his best friend, helping him attain his goals in life, lending him moral, mental and spiritual support, and by not just being a liability that only bring requests and problems to be solved.

6. Your Friends Run Your Life. How do you expect to find a husband when you still allow your clique of friends to be dictating which man you meet, is worthy of your love and which is not? When will you wake up and face the fact that those your best friends even though they cherish you, wouldn’t want you to marry before them or to marry the best man?

7. You Package Yourself Wrongly- in your attempt to look sexy, adorable and maybe appealing to guys, you have derailed from appealing to appalling. In fact you look more whorish than modest; more distractive than attractive, and more disgusting than adorable. Your dressing style determines who gets attracted to you most times. If you dress high school, only high school-thinking guys will be attracted to you, and if you dress excessively sexy and provocative, only randy men will come to you for urgent satisfaction of their immediate s*x urge, so don’t be fooled by media hyping of certain kinds of dressing, they are meant for certain set of ladies you wouldn’t like to be associated with, be careful. Remember, not all clothes that look sexy are good for a seriously searching for a soul mate single lady.

8. You Lack Manner, Character, Wisdom and Good Home Upbringing- definitely, your ‘hot girl’, ‘pretty girl’, ‘sexy girl’ looks will win you so many men; both the good, and the bad, but your inner beauty, your character and manner are the things that will determine whether any of those men would stay or run after accomplishing their evil missions. In order words, do away with nagging, being possessive, challenging with men in negative ways, the mentality of ‘what a man can do a woman can do better’, a lie devil has used to deceive and destroy so many ladies today, please do away with it.

Tips On How To Take Care Of Dry Skin

Previously we discussed on oily skin care. In this post we shall take a look at dry skin care. Dry skin care is important if you want to avoid that dry itchy skin that feels and looks awful. Not only can you have problems with dry skin during those winter months, but you can end up dealing with dry skin because of using hot water too often, taking showers that are too long, or even using skin care products that contain harsh ingredient

If you are ready to kiss that dry skin goodbye for good, there are some things you can do to eliminate it. Here is a look at some top skin care tips that can help you take care of that dry skin until it is smooth, moist, and beautiful again. Below are tips on how to take care of dry skin:

Avoid Hot Showers and Baths
One of the most important tips for dry skin care is to avoid hot showers and baths. Taking showers and baths that are too hot can especially be hard on your skin during the winter months and may dry out skin even more. It is better to take showers and baths that are short and only warm to avoid excessive drying.

Be Careful About the Cleansers You Use
Another important tip that can help you to combat that dry itchy skin is to be careful about the cleansers that you use when you bathe or take a shower. Many of the cleansers out there can be too harsh for skin that is already dry. Go with cleansers that are mild and that will help moisturize while you cleanse.

Try an Oatmeal Bath or The Turmeric Facial Mask Mix
It may be a great idea to try out an oatmeal bath if you are tired of that dry skin. Itchy skin that is dry and flaking is frustrating, but an all natural way you can sooth it is to put some natural oats into the bath. This can naturally sooth the skin to relieve the dry and itchy feeling that you are dealing with. Read Preparing oatmeal, Turmeric Facial Mix

Moisturize Regularly
Probably one of the most important dry skin care tips that you need to use is to moisturize regularly. You need to choose a quality moisturizer that does not contain any ingredients, such as parabens, that can further irritate and dry out skin. Look for natural ingredients that not only moisturize, but that form a barrier to keep moisture in the skin.

Even hydrating your body with plenty of water is important. This helps you to keep the natural moisture in the body where it should be. All of these tips are important and they are just a few skin care methods for dryness that you can use to finally get rid of that frustrating dry skin you have.

Dedicating this song to my beloved sweetheart, happy birthday to the sweetest, Loving hubby in the world. Thanks for all the Love, words can't express how much I appreciate you for been in my life.

Thanks for been the best hubby! Xoxo...kisses

Little Act of Love: TGIF

I'm smiling so hard right now and You know why.

I don't have much to say this morning, but I'd love to say thank You for the little acts of love that make me smile long after the moment is past. Thankful for today, yesterday and the future am yet unaware.

Life is beautiful when love brushes gentle strokes across our hearts, and for this, I wake up and sing my hear with gratitude in my heart using my pen, writing my thoughts.

Though yesterday didn't seems good it I would have love it to be, today is a new day, fresh morning, new life and new hope. To this I say thank you, Lord.

Waking up to the start of a yet another gloomy morning, believing to maximise the opportunity you have given to me to bless and impact on another live.

Helping to put smiles on someone else's faces, that one person who dearly needs it to keep the hope of the day alive...

PS: Though there are those moments when you cry, relish more the moment when joy explodes within your heart

Never give up... Today is a fresh start!

Share an act of Love to someone today!

Ladies: 20 things EVERY WOMAN should know about her vagina

The vagina doesn’t need to be douched….It smells good already. Don’t try to decorate. Don’t believe him when he tells you it smells like rose petals when it’s supposed to smell like….

It’s amazing how much misinformation is out there about the vagina. Given how fascinated our society is with the female body, you’d think we’d be a little more informed. But from what I discovered while soliciting questions for my book What’s Up Down There? Questions You’d Only Ask Your Gynecologist If She Was Your Best Friend, many of us still have a lot to learn. To help out, I’ve compiled a list of 20 things I believe everyone should know about the vagina.

1. While men do pee out of the penis, women do not pee out of the vagina. There are three holes and countless other sexy structures. Learn to know your anatomy.  Get a hand mirror and go to town.  From front to back, the urethra is the first hole, the vagina is the second, and the anus is the third. Don’t laugh! You’d be amazed how many people don’t know this.

2. The vagina doesn’t connect to your lung. If you lose something in there, don’t worry. Reach in all the way and pull it out. Do not–I repeat, do not–go hunting for whatever you’ve lost with a pair of pliers. If you think you put something in there and you can’t find it, chances are good that it’s simply not there. Think of your vagina as being like a sock. If you lose a banana in a sock…it stays in the sock.

3. Yes, it’s true–your vagina can fall out. Not to belabor the sock metaphor, but it can turn inside out just like a worn out sweat sock and hang between your legs as you get older. But don’t fret; this condition–called pelvic prolapse– can be fixed.

4. Contrary to popular mythology, there’s no such thing as being revirginized. Once you lose it, it’s gone. Just so you know.

5. You can catch sexually transmitted diseases even if you use a condom. Sorry to break it to you, but the skin of the vulva can still touch infectious skin of the scrotum–and BAM! Warts. Herpes. Molluscum contagiosum. Pubic lice. So pick your partners carefully.

6. The vagina is like a bicep. Use it or lose it. If you don’t have a partner, pick up a battery-operated boyfriend to help keep things healthy as you age. But don’t worry–it’s usually not an issue until after menopause, when fragile vaginal tissue can scar and shrink. If properly tended, your vagina will be able to pleasure you until the day you leave this life.

7. Every vulva is different and special. Some lips hang down. Some are tucked up neatly inside. Some are long. Some are short. Some are even. Some aren’t. All are beautiful. You’re perfect just the way you are.

8. Most women don’t have orgasms from intercourse alone. The clitoris is where the action is. Most women who do orgasm during sex have figured out how to hit their sweet spot, either from positioning or from direct stimulation of the clitoris with fingers.

9. If you’re hunting for your G Spot, be patient. Stimulating this area usually requires more time and deeper stimulation than most people think. Try using a finger in a “come hither” motion to stimulate the front wall of the vagina, where the G spot lives. If you can’t find it, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Many can’t–and it’s definitely not critical to having a fulfilling romp in the hay.

10. How you choose to decorate is completely personal. Waxing, shaving, tattooing, piercing, or simply going au natural. It’s your choice, and don’t let anyone else pressure you into doing something that doesn’t resonate with you.

11. The vagina doesn’t need to be douched. As Eve Ensler says, ““My vagina doesn’t need to be cleaned up. It smells good already. Don’t try to decorate. Don’t believe him when he tells you it smells like rose petals when it’s supposed to smell like pussy. That’s what they’re doing – trying to clean it up, make it smell like bathroom spray or a garden. All those douche sprays–floral, berry, rain. I don’t want my pussy to smell like rain. All cleaned up like washing a fish after you cook it. I want to taste the fish. That’s why I ordered it.” Amen, sister. I second that.

 12. The only cancer a Pap smear screens for is cervical cancer. It doesn’t check your ovaries, your uterus, or your colon, so even if you don’t need yearly Paps, you still need to have a yearly pelvic exam.

13. How much vaginal discharge you make varies widely. Some normal, healthy women spew loads of discharge and need to wear panty liners every day. Others are bone dry. As long as you are not at risk of STD’s and you have no itching, burning, or odor, you’re probably just fine. If in doubt, see your gynecologist.

14. Menstrual blood is supposed to clot, so don’t freak out. Usually, what you think are clots are just pieces of uterine lining. As long as you’re not losing too much blood, small clots during your period need not concern you. Clots are just nature’s way of keeping you from bleeding too much. Blood is supposed to clot. It’s when the clots are large or you start to hemorrhage that we start to worry.

15. Lots of vaginas need help lubing up during sex, especially as you get older. Don’t be afraid to slick on some lubricant like K-Y Jelly or Astroglide. Or try coconut oil, which is a great natural lubricant- but don’t blame me if you find yourself hankering for a post-coital macaroon.

16. Vaginal farts (some call them “queefs” or “varts”) happen to almost all women at one time or another, especially during sex or other forms of exercise. Don’t be embarrassed. You’re perfectly normal.

17. Vaginas stretch out when you have babies vaginally. It’s natural but it can leave you feeling a bit loosey goosey. Kegel exercises that contract the muscles of the vagina really do help. To do them, practice stopping the stream of urine when you pee. There–that’s the muscle! Now contract and relax it 10 X for three or more sets several times per day.

18. Some women do ejaculate during orgasm, but you’re normal if you don’t. The controversial “female ejaculation” most likely represents two different phenomena. If it’s a small amount of milky fluid, it likely comes from the paraurethral glands inside the urethra. If it’s a cup, it’s probably pee. Many times, it may be a little bit of both. But don’t stress out about peeing on yourself. Put a towel under you and surrender to the experience.

19. Sex shouldn’t hurt, but it does for many women. If you’re one of those women, see your doctor. So many women are too embarrassed to say anything, so they suffer in silence. There are things we docs can do to help you.

20. Safe sex (or even just orgasm alone) is good for you. Benefits include lowering your risk of heart disease and stroke, reducing your risk of breast cancer, bolstering your immune system, helping you sleep, making you appear more youthful, improving your fitness, regulating menstrual cycles, relieving menstrual cramps, helping with chronic pain, reducing the risk of depression, lowering stress levels, and improving self esteem. So go at it, girlfriends!

So there you go. There you have it.  It’s important to know this kind of stuff, because you can’t truly love all of yourself until you love your girly parts.  Your vagina is the portal to all things magical in your life. Once you own and accept this part of yourself, you can do and be anything you choose.  The more you know, the more you’re empowered to live life out loud, love fully, and really rock this life.

Book Review Wednesday:'Two gone---still counting' by Oyindamola Affinih.

‘Not since The Concubine, by Elechi Amadi, the epochal novel in which the heroine is fated to serve as the source of death for her suitors has there been in African fiction a mythical cliff-hanger as Oyindamola Affinih’s heartrending Two gone---still counting’

Those were the words of Uzor Maxim Uzoatu in describing this author’s debut novel. He is right in comparing the novel to Elechi Amadi’s the concubine in that they both portray unfortunate heroines held captive by the potent mythical powers of superstition. But what makes this contemporary story different is its modern setting; its attempt to portray the 21st century Nigerian society, its poignant, feminist perspective and its depiction of the importance of class in a third world country.

‘Two gone---still counting is an illustrative tale of a young, Nigerian woman, who is trailed by a supposed African curse that supposedly kills men who marry her. Amani, the troubled heroine is a Nigerian who lived in England and later moved to Nigeria. While in London, she was told by her parents that she fell down from her mother’s back as a baby and so is fated to carry the curse unless her mother runs naked in the market. For her and many people of her generations, such dark fantasies belong to the realm of superstitions in the African culture. Yet she was surprised that many Nigerians actually believe in it. The superstition would come to haunt her later in life, long after her parents’ death, when she kept losing her spouses to death.

As profound as this theme is throughout the book, I have a feeling that this is not really what the story is all about. Beyond the potency of dark myths and superstitions, the book explores the power of societal forces in African societies and the negative power they can sometimes wield on individuals.

Amani, the heroine was brought up with her brother in England by relatively affluent parents. When they move to Nigeria, her parents are gruesomely murdered by unknown people and that was how her world came crashing. The family bickered over her father’s property and tore the whole place apart. Her father’s cousin took over the house and made the children miserable. He later threw them out. The story explores Amani’s travails as she struggled bravely to rise beyond her misfortune and achieve success in a society that is sometimes exciting and yet sometimes hostile. She eventually attains success and yet the curse continues to trail her.

While the story is simple and interesting, it also provokes a deep thought in the reader concerning the effect of some values in African societies and whether they are not causing more harm than good to young women. The book is written from the first-person perspective, which makes it easier to see into the mind of the heroine. This causes the feminist views of the writer to be strongly evident. One doesn’t have to read between lines to recognise the heroine’s extreme feminist attitude and the first person narrative makes it easier to relate it with the author’s supposed views. Yet the author is not as guilty in this as Seffi Attah in her book, Everything good will come. Apart from the issue surrounding the myth, Two gone---still counting reads much like Everything good will come, only that one would be more inclined to like the heroine in the former better because of her suffering. Yet that doesn’t mean she is less arrogant.

In totality, the book is interesting, at least in my view more interesting than the average Nigerian novel. I like the contemporary English used in the book, it makes it fun reading it. I also like the way it depicts contemporary Nigeria and Nigerians. From the chaotic cacophony of Oshodi Oke to the posh serenity of Victoria Island, the author gives us something to laugh about Nigeria. It is an emotional story that would arouse the sympathy and sometimes anger of the reader, yet it is also full of funny dialogues that will bring laughter to one’s mouth.

The cover is also colourful and the lettering big enough, making it even more fun to read. Yet I can’t resist the urge to poke fun at the author’s obsession with class. It was quite evident throughout the book. It’s a strong story but I can’t resist the cynical laughter that comes to me when I read feminist writers.

As for me, this is not bad for a debut, I enjoyed reading it, even while sipping Coca-Cola along with my Ruffles...hehehe
