Bridesmaids or Bride Matron...What's Your Take?

With Saturdays comes lots of weddings, celebration, joy and all. But the stress and arranging a wedding isnt at all a easy one for the bride and groom. Its a time most especially for the bride to implement that fairy wedding she's always dream and fancitised about as a young girl. It comes with choosing the right colors, place, the right wedding dress, food, and not forgetting that special someone you want to see next to you as you share your special day- 'The BridesMaid'

Haven worked in as a wedding planner some years back, I tend to  noticed that weddings preparation come with a lot of sentiments and decision making processes that can either break or mend relationships between the couple’s families and ultimately their friends. One of the most difficult aspects of a true wedding preparation for a bride is picking her bridesmaids or bride’s matrons. Bridesmaids form a unique wedding tradition and they make great memoir for the perfect wedding ceremony.
Bridesmaids
Traditionally, bridesmaids are sisters, close families and dearest single friends. Choosing bridesmaids is a great tradition which dates back a long time, a role many young family members look forward to fill, sometimes it comes with lots of tears and disappointment when they do not make the selection process.

Bridesmaids are special people in the life of a bride; they may be her sister, cousin, sisters in law or friends. Whoever they are, they may have touched her life and that of her spouse in one way or another.
Choosing bridesmaids can become a complex task if there are certain complications within the family setting, such bride may also have to tread carefully. It is advisable that she seeks the opinion of her parents and in-laws when making her decision. It goes beyond her preference at times, especially in extended or polygamous family settings where she may have to put others into consideration.
Brides matron
Brides’ matron is a term used for the married families or friends of a bride whom she has chosen as part of her bridal train. They can be friends or matured family members. They are usually more understanding and tolerant. Due to their life experiences, they will be able to offer moral support to the bride in different ways.
Some brides prefer to have bride’s matrons because they are more likely to cooperate with them in making decision on their dresses as long as it is within their own fashion reasoning and age appropriate too. Financially, bride’s matrons should be capable of footing their own dress bills without making unnecessary demands on the bride, a great stress relief for the bride.

Financial implication
To be a bridesmaid is a costly effort which comes with a price tag and the more elaborate the wedding, perhaps the more expensive the bridesmaids’ dresses is likely to be, therefore those who cannot foot the bill may not qualify for the role.
Many say that being a bridesmaid has become a burden and not a benefit which it was traditionally set out to be due to the huge financial implications of the role today. For some, it serves as the means to exploit friends by imposing unreasonable financial demands on them without taking into account how much they can all afford.
While some bridesmaids can afford the excesses, others may not and this forms the basis of disagreements and lack of cooperation between the bride and her bridesmaids which may also be between the bridesmaids themselves in some instances.
My Tips
A wonderful wedding day depends on a happy and peaceful bridal party. Happy bridesmaids or bride’s matrons will definitely add a lot of sparkle and excitement to a wedding day, great photography moments will too, therefore be judicious when making your choice.
Avoid selection on the basis of their financial capabilities; bridesmaids or matrons are those special individuals, who may have rocked your world in various capacities looking back and if you must have them share in your big day, also be prepared to make some sacrifices too to ensure that everyone is happy.
