The African Myth...Superstition vs Beliefs

I was talking with some friends recently, about the myth behind some African believe system, take for instance that when you sneeze three times, means someone is calling you! We went on to argue about it, and I felt I should share and get to know from you all who or what started this myth. Or do you have any of such believes? Do you believe in them, what your view about them.

My friend went on to say that they are mere Superstitious believes, which varies from one culture top another, like they say when your palms scratches you, one is going to get money. If your eyes blinks, means you are going to see whom you have not for long. When in actual fact is the disturbance of worms in the eyes, lol!

For me, I grew up knowing if you sneeze once, it means someone is praising you;-If you sneeze twice, it means someone is criticizing you/saying bad things about you;- If you sneeze three times, it means you are being scolded;-And if you sneeze four times or more, well, it means you have a cold.

Another is that when the inner ear itches you it means some people are talking about you somewhere and that when pit rains and while the weather is sunny it means lion is giving birth to young one in the bush and that when you knock your toe against stone especially from the left leg it mean bad luck  or disappointment will  be the order of the day.

Are there some myths you knew while growing up?  We will appreciate if you share!
