Promoting the African Culture As Lagos set for Black Heritage Festival

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka says Lagos is fully set for this year’s Black Heritage Festival. Soyinka, who is the Chairman, Organizing Committee of the Festival, said all logistics had been put in place for a hitch free event.

He added that people from all parts of the world were expected in Lagos to experience the thrills and excitement of the festival.

Also, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Disun Holloway said the event would give Lagosians the opportunity to unwind and have fun in a secure environment. Engr. Segun Jawando, Chairman of the Water Regatta stated that events marking the Water Regatta would include engine power boat racing, swimming, search and rescue demonstration and the traditional boat regatta tagged

“The Black in the Mediterranean Blue and the African Colours of Brazil.”

Other events to be staged include drama, dance, exhibitions, symposium, music and street carnival. The week-long Festival is to commence on Saturday, 23 March and climax on Easter Monday, 1 April, 2013.
